Healthy Breakfast with Silk Fruit & Protein #SilkFruit

My husband doesn’t get to spend many mornings with us anymore. He is now working 12 hours swifts at his job, so when he gets a morning at home we make breakfast a big deal. I am that mommy. I try to come up with some type of idea to not only make breakfast fun for my family, but to keep it healthy as well. It is the meal that starts off the day. I have two small boys Logan and Spencer who can not drink certain juices because of allergies. Juice is not brought into our home very often. I was on the Silk Facebook page and saw they had a new product called Silk Fruit&Protein and I knew that I had to try it. I was also able to get a $1.00 off coupon which made the deal so much sweeter.

I was able to find the Silk Fruit&Protein easily. It was right under the Silk milk in the Dairy section. My store only carried the Strawberry Banana so I grabbed two cartons. I knew that I was going to be making a pancake sauce out of it, and I also wanted some juice on hand. I was surprised to see that right on the front it said free of dairy and lactose. I never thought of fruit juices having an dairy in them, but maybe they do. I grabbed a few more items in the store filled my cart and headed out. You can check out my whole shopping trip here on my goggle plus album.

Back at my house I was a little worried on how my oldest son would react drinking this juice. Almost every juice I give him makes his whole face break out in red dots and his his whole face turns red. I have to give him benadryl right away when this happens. He wanted a glass as soon as he saw that the carton has strawberries and bananas on it. As I watched him drink the Silk Fruit&Protein his face stayed the same color. No red dots, no red face. Just a big smile and a, “Can I have some more mommy?”  Nothing made this mommy more happier then seeing her son being able to drink a fruit juice.

While my son was enjoying his Strawberry Banana Silk Fruit&Protein juice I started making strawberry pancakes. I decide to make a healthy pancake sauce with the Silk Fruit&Protein. I took a cup of the juice and added 1t of sugar and 1T of corn starch. I let it come to a boil and thicken. Remove from the stove and you have a wonderful pancake sauce. What I loved about the Silk Fruit&Protein was how think and creamy it was. It almost tasted like juicy milk. Milk that had fruit in it, yet there is no dairy at all in this juice. Silk Fruit & Protein is the perfect juice for the whole family and I know that this family will be keeping it in the fridge.

that’s a good idea to use this for a pancake topping. i’ll bet it has much less sugar than syrup.
